Dear Gordon My great-great-grandmother was married to a NELMS before she married my great-great-grandfather. Her name was Adelaide BRADLEY and she married John NELMS of Ruardean. The 1851 census has them living with her mother, Elizabeth at Ruardean Woodside. They later had two sons, John and Timothy. Interestingly enough, my grandfather, who was no blood relation was named John Nelms COOKE. I know who have indicated Lydney as the location for your NELMS but perhaps you have come across mine in your travels, particularly Adelaide as I have been having difficulty locating a record of her second marriage to my gggrandfather, Elmes COOKE. It appears that she lost her first husband and second husband within the space of about 10 years, probably in the mines as they were both in that line of work. Would be interested to know if you have come across anybody that you think may belong to my tree. There are quite a few of them in the 1851 census living in Lydney and I have some names of other researchers who may like to hear from you.
