Hello, This is my first message to the list. Am searching for a Thomas Gough, who left the Forest of Dean sometime before 1789 with a gang of men to prospect for coal in south Derbyshire. Is anyone researching the name Gough in the Forest of Dean? Do you have a missing Thomas? He married in Newhall, Derbys in 1789 and died there in 1812 - but where was he born? I have an article in which his great grandson states that he came from the Forest of Dean but no other clues. I know there are/were Gough families in Mitcheldean, Bream and St Briavels. Only one possible Thomas on IGI b. Mitcheldean but family naming patterns don't fit this one. Anyone have any ideas? Ros Stoke-on-Trent
