Hello, I've just joined your list as I'm trying to locate the burial of my gg grandfather Frederick Wicks. He died in Joyford in 1866 ( I have recently received the death certificate) and am wondering where would I find an old burial ground for this area? Also, can anyone tell me is the BDM's have been indexed for Joyford. Also how to go about finding parish records for this area. Many thanks, Wendy

Hi If anyone has an index to the 1851 census for Glos. , a lookup for a Catherine POWELL would be much appreciated. She would have to be of a suitable age to have a child in 1874. That`s all I know about her Sylvia Morgan _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons - download MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger

I printed a page from the 1901 censuslooking for a Henry JONES. Unfortunately the copy showed no address but it seems to be a workhouse as the people are alll entered as paupers. Which workhouse was it? The inmates came from Lydbrook, Coleford, and West DEan, mostly and the reference is RG13/4923 and the page number could be 6 or 8 Any help appreciated Sylvia Morgan _________________________________________________________________ Find a cheaper internet access deal - choose one to suit you. http://www.msn.co.uk/internetaccess
I have been off this list for a while trying to pursue other branches of the family. I am still trying to find the birth/baptism of my g-grandfather Thomas HIGGINS, born HEF (Huntly according to 1861 Census). He would have been born between 1825-1837. Age given varies on each record. His father was a farmer named William. Do not know his mother's name (unfortunately). There are 2 "possibles" on the 1851 Census for HEF - one is definitely not him and the other I can't find a baptism for. He shows up in 1857 when he married an Elizabeth VINES - both were living in Parkend. I have a very good record of him from 1857 on. Maybe someone has joined the list recently who may also be researching HIGGINS. If so, would love to hear from you. Greetings Group: I am hoping that someone can help me. After spending days at the LDS peering at the 1841 census I was bitterly disappointed to find that the pages for Coleford were almost blank, just a few illegible lines. I do not know if it was the fault of the film or the original. If it was just the fault of the film, would it be possible for someone to have a look at those pages and see if they can find Henry NICHOLS, and his family. One of his sons was named Charles. Henry's occupation would probably have been either bank manager, gentleman or something in the same order. .Those were occupations given in the Trade directories. In 1840 he was living at Rock House in Newland Street, Coleford. If this is an impossible task, I understand. Thank you in anticipation. The film has also been sent back.!!! PatZ. West Aust.
