    3. Thanks very much to Mike Gwilliam and John Hunt for responding so quickly to my query about the 1881 census for the Speech house. I had a vague recollection that one of my ancestors was a domestic there, unfortunately I must have been mistaken, maybe it was on another census. Thanks anyway. Hopefully, someone else will see this and maybe find an undiscovered ancestor. Cheers Kath __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! There are four lists for Glos and I am not sure which one is correct. I am searching the names HUMPHRIES/DIX from the early 1800s. Kaye Hawley, Perth, Western Australia.

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pamela Simmons To: ENG-GLOS-FOREST-DEAN-L-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, June 14, 2004 2:57 PM Subject: Eleanor DREW My Great Grandfather William DREW was born in Stanton FOD in 1825 .His father was Joseph DREW - Mother Eleanor NIBLET. William had a brother Emanuel who died age 1 month in 1833 and a sister Hannah Marina born 1828. William moved north to Lancashire some time before 1848. His sister Marina DREW is in the 1851 census for West Dean as a daughter visitor to a James HUGHES and Helen aged 46 . Helen was born Hewersfield (Hewelsfield). as was Eleanor and is the same age. I wonder if they could be the same person. I have found a death for Joseph DREW in 1845 in Westbury on Severn and I wonder if Eleanor has re married although I cannot find anything on the Free BMD and on Williams marriage certificate in 1848 it does not say his father is deceased. Has anyone got any ideas where I can go from here Thanks Pamela .

    1. Help with Mary Ann PHILLIPS
    2. J&K Faul.
    3. Mary Ann PHILLIPS has been my brick wall for quite a few years. I have her marriage certificate for Dec 31st 1863 to James Steven DREW. It states her age as 22 years making her birth year abt 1841 and her father is William Phillips. The marriage took place at St John, Dean Forest which I believe to be Cinderford in the District of Westbury on Severn. I can find her on the 1881 census as Mary Ann DREW but cannot find a Mary Ann PHILLIPS that fits on the 1851 census, there is one in Newent but I have checked and that is not her. On the 1851 census there is a family of William and Elizabeth PHILLIPS who have a daughter Jane who fits just right except for the given name, could Jane be a alternate name for Mary Anne? If anyone with access to the 1861 or/and the1871 census would kindly do a look up for me and see if it brings anything to light. I have incidentally checked the free BMD and can find nothing. Throwing it out to all you clever people out there. TIA Julie Faull

    3. From the BMD Index there is a Mary Phillips, Monmouth April 1842 Vol XXVI Page number blurred could be 76 Monmouth straddles West Dean registration district I think this is strongest and the "Arlingham" possibility should be ignored for now good luck S
