Hello, I have some details for the odd RESTALL Family living in the Bristol and Cheltenham areas around the 1890s. However, does anyone have a 'bit of a Family Tree' for them either at Bristol and/or Cheltenham? In exchange, I could provide a few copies from photos of my RESTALL Ancestors living at both Bristol and Cheltenham (probably dated around the 1890s). I am only now beginning to concentrate on these two areas, as stated above. Thank you, Gordon T. Holmes. Tel No. (01274) 23 5284 - VOICE MAIL Email: g.t.holmes@bradford.ac.uk Elect/IT Technician. A WILLIAM AMOS PREECE was a traveling companion of "my" WILLIAM FREDERCIK ELLIS - they left from Southampton 25/8/1923 on the "Berengaria" and arrived in America via Ellis Island 1/9/1923. WILLIAM AMOS PREECE was shown as 41y 1month, married, a miner, born Bream, next of kin, wife FRANCES Rosa PREECE. Both men gave their wives' address as c/o Mrs Ada Jotham, Ruspidge Cinderford, Glos. Both men were also traveling to SALTSBURG and gave the address of a friend EDWARD/EDWIN NELMES as their destination. Full details are available on the Ellis Island web site, including descriptions such as colour of hair, eyes etc. I have a little more incidental information about WILLIAM AMOS PREECE and EDWARD/EDWIN NELMES and although these men are not ancestors of mine I would welcome contact from anyone with connections to them. Would also like to find out more about Mrs Ada Jotham. There were also several other "Forest Folk" on the next page of the Ships manifest, although their destinations were different from the above so I have no idea whether they were all traveling together, or met by chance. I also have a WILLIAM JONES who married EVA BEDDIS 30/6/1879, St Paul's Parkend they emigrated to USA (Shawnee, Ohio) arriving 22/7/1885, although I have not established when they left England and by which route (too early for Ellis Island) This WILLIAM JONES died in a mining accident, 1898. Hi List The marriage of Thomas DAVI(E)S and Annie DUFTY has eluded me for a long time. The were, according to censuses, both born in the West Dean area and their children were also baptised there (eldest known child b.1872) I have searched FreeBMD and 1837online with no luck. Does anyone know anything?? Could sks do a look up on the 1851/1861/ for the following please Mary Ann TYLER, my husband's g.g grandmother and Henry James TYLER (sometimes James Henry - by 1901 census he is just James) his great grandfather In the 1881 census they were living at Cinderford Iron Works. Mary Ann aged 65 born Drybrook and Inkeeper - widow - head of household Henry James aged 24 - unmarried (he married later in life) Thomas Lewis aged 82 widower described as Uncle If he Thomas is Mary's uncle her maiden name could be LEWIS Possible maiden name for Mary Ann is LEWIS - there is a Thomas LEWIS described as uncle aged 82 As Mary is aged 65 it is possible that there are older children who had left home by 1881. Would be grateful for any information Thanks Shirley
Further to my previous message regarding names on 1901 page, with daylight and cleaner glasses I think that the name I originally read as RENITH might actually be SMITH, christian names STEPHEN, ANNIE children WILLIAM, ARTHUR, ANNIE, THOMAS, DAVID & father SEPTIMUS If anyone claims these please contact me off list Maria (Cornwall)

Hello Listers, Am interested in the MATHEWS family of Ruardean 1870-1925. Have exhausted trade directories and census entries. Would be delighted to hear from anyone who has come across this family that lived at Hart House behind the petrol station opposite the parish church. My grandfather, Ernest born 1873 and his younger brother, Frank were heavily involved in the Church and Ernest was for many years the bell captain. If anyone has come across this family in their research, I would love to hear from you. Thanks & regards Nick
I have a print out of RG13/2475 Civil Parish of Ruardean surplus to requirement should anyone like it. The following family names are mentioned:- Ruardean - HARDING Turners Tump - ONIONS; JORDAN; WILES?; MEDMORE?; MILES; IREA?; ALLAWAY; RENITH If anybody wants the Christian names of any of these families to see if they could be theirs please get in touch and I am happy to post the page to anyone claiming any of the families mentioned. Maria (Cornwall)
Thanks to Slowhands for the Richard HEATH census details: I am not familiar with Knockley Green, although Coleford/Newland would be the general area I am interested in - can anyone enlighten me as to exactly where Knockley Green is? The above Richard HEATH is possibly a descendant of a Richard HEATH who married a SARAH JAMES at Awre, 12/11/1780 - no children are baptised to Sarah & Richard in Awre, but the IGI shows several children baptised to Richard and Sarah HEATH in Newland, so it is possible they moved there....... If anyone has any HEATH information I would dearly love to hear from you Best wishes Angela Gibson Sydney, Australia
Hi all Wonder if someone can tell me if this group would cover the area of Pill, Bristol; Berkeley, Gloucster and Easton in Gordano? Many thanks John john@datasafe.org.uk
Is anyone following the HEATH name?? Would be interested in contact if anyone is. Hello Forest of Dean I know my query is nothing to do with your area, but hope that someone has access to the 1861 census/es of Gloucester, and can help me. My GGrandmother Emma married John Stock in Blaenavon, Mon, in 1862. Her age was 21, ie born about 1841. Her maiden name was given as Holder, and her father was Mathew Holder, Blacksmith. A birth certificate of my grandmother gives Emma's surname as Owley. The 1881 census tells me she was born in Gloucester. I have been unable to find Emma in 1851 in Gloucester, or in Blaenavon in 1861. A Mathew Holder, Blacksmith in 1851 was living in Lassington, born Churcham, with wife Sarah, but no Emma with them. Could someone - Check to see if Mathew Holder is still in Lassington in 1861 (and did not go to Blaenavon), also Can you find Emma Holder/Owley/Houldey b about 1841 in the Gloucester district. Thank you for reading this, and hoping someone can shed some light on this mystery. Cliff Weeks Stratford upon Avon
