Ann was the dau of George JAMES and Mary TINGLE who were married 1 Sep 1801 at English Bicknor. I haven't located James' baptism, but can carry the TINGLEs back a couple of generations. Any connection with your JAMES? Gordon A Morley Orleans, ON

Hi listers, I have a Henry Fitzharding PRICE born 1st Feb 1836 in Uley, father Samuel PRICE b. Longhope and mother Charlotte ? b. Longhope ca 1790. The LDS records have a PRICE family in Longhope and I'm trying to make the connection to Samuel PRICE b Longhope 1 Jan 1786, according to the IGI. I think he is my Henry's father. Does anyone have access to the parish registers for Longhope? Or can anyone advice if they are on microfiche or CD, by a great stroke of possible good luck, and I could purchase them? I know it is a lot to ask, but sending to the GLC Record Office entails a 7 weeks wait at the moment, I guess they are snowed under. thankyou for your patience, best Flo Flo Montgomery Surrey UK [email protected] researching: MONTGOMERY in Bristol and Ireland CHAMPION in Bristol and Somerset PRICE, COLEMAN in Longhope and Uley PRICE, BAKER, CRISPIN in Bristol and Somerset BURKS in Crewe, Cheshire; Staffs and Warwickshire BARON, BARTLETT, HUGHES, in Blackburn and Gt Harwood CALLADINE, JERVIS, DENT in Staffordshire CALLADINE IN Derbyshire
I am researching DAVI(E)S in and around Drybrook and would be interested to hear from anyone with similar interests/connections. Regards Andrew Gardner
Kempley lies within the area covered Forest of Dean District council so gets lumped in with the proper forest as it were. There are quite a few bits that lie outside the statutory Forest but still get included in the Forest of Dean council sweep up. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sara White" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: 01 March 2001 18:54 Subject: [FoD] Boundaries of the Forest of Dean > Does anyone know where the borders officially are? Hi to all on the List, This is the first time on this particular List and my interest are with the Hyatt/Hyett/Hiatt families originating from the Forest of Dean. They lived in Awre Blakeney/ Old Croft and Lydney in the 18th & 19th centuries and eventually moved to Staffordshire. If anyone has any information perhaps we could exchange data. John Donaldson Stoke-on-Trent
Greetings to all list members. I am new to this list and am not familiar with your area as I do not live in the UK. I have located my g g g grandfather James BATES on the 1851 census. It says born in Forest of Dean, Dark Hill in 1823. Could someone tell me if Dark Hill is a place? Any suggestions on how to learn any more about his family? TIA Marlene Ontario, Canada
Does anyone know where the borders officially are? I was surfing the net and found Kempley was included in the FofD website but I thought it was outside the forest. Can anyone put me right? Many thanks Sara White

Looking for any info re Thomas BARNARD who married Mary GOODE on 17.2.1799 in Abenhall. Ted in Basildon, Essex
Thanks Cathie for the info The Family in the 1861 census is mine. I have the 1851 census and 1881 census so receiving the information was great. I now know that Richard (head) must have died. He was stated as Freeholder 50 acres in the 1851 census. My grandfather 3 Thomas was a Brightsmyth's apprentice, do you have much information about the farm your ancestors owned? Regards Sonia
Hi Sonia I found these entries on some of my photocopied sheets of the BT's. Hope they are of some help. If you can, order from the LDS FHL Film No. 0856960 for the Marriage entries (gives what parish the person is from and also witnesses) & FHL Film No. 0856961 - Banns of Marriages, baptisms & burials 1799-1899....all for Newland Parish. Your MUDWAY family lived 2 doors away from my STEPHENS family in the 1861 Census of Newland, Clearwell Tything....also, it looks as though the son, Richard was an apprentice Currier and more than likely apprenticed to my 5 x grandfather, William, or his son Benjamin!!! Hello All I am new to the list, so am posting my interest in the name TEAGUE in Ruardean, 18th century and earlier. Regards Samantha in Melbourne
Hello listers, Looking for any information regarding the parents of George Hulin from St. Briavels area? He married a Mary Baker {or Barker} from Alvington in 1699. Would love to get a lead with this particular brick wall. Many tks Dave
Sorry to return to this topic which has probably only just reached your screens but I may now be part way to answering my own question - which was - why am I unable to find Edwin Iles 1st marriage and the birth of at least 4 children in GLS. I now have a copy of the certificate for his second marriage to Emma Butt dated 22.10.1868. They both lived at Yorkley and were married at St. Pauls Church - presumably Parkend - and yet the Registration District is shown to be Monmouth. I also now have my grandmother's birth cert dated September 5th., 1882. She was born at Bream "In the sub district of Coleford" and again the Registration District is Monmouth. It looks as though I must start searching Monmouth but Is anyone able to tell me what rules governed the registration districts. Were all the Forest births registered in Mon, if so does anyone know when the practise started and finished? Assuming of course that it isn't still going on. Finally is anyone able to do a Monmouth lookup please. Edwin was born at Brimpsfield in 1825, (as Eyles). By 1853 he was married with 4 children and I have no information on the marriage or the children. He could have had a son, Henry, by his first wife in as late as 1866 so there could be others in between. This man has been bugging me for a long time - can anyone de-bug me please? I would be so very grateful. John
