Cork: ................DILL.....MURPHY(in Coachford). Mike Went over my notes on Ann JAMES. I have her marriage certificate (1844) which gives neither her age or her father's name. I have her in the 1851 census (age 30 pob Newland) and the 1881 census (age 62 pob West Dean). The 1818 baptism at Bream (a chapelry of Newland) of Ann dau of George and Mary JAMES, thus appears like a fairly good fit. The marriage of George JAMES and Mary TINGLE at English Bicknor is a bit of a shot in the dark however. Went to the LDS site and looked found one other sibling of the Ann bap at Bream in 1813. It seems you can only do a surname sweep if you enter the Batch number. It appears the extractions for Bream start in 1813, so there could be earlier ones. I could find no baptisms at English Bicknor that might pertain. I might need a trip to our local LDS FHC to look at the IGI on CD ROM or possibly order films of the register. Will advise if I am able to push the JAMES line back. Regards Gordon Morley Orleans, Ontario

    1. [FoD] KNIGHTS OF THE REALM
    2. G'day from Canberra I was wondering if anyone has expertise in tracing knights. I have located in a 1776 publication (Ticknell, John. The History of Town and Country of Kingston Upon Hull, From its Foundations in the Reign of Edward the First to the Present Time) an account of the Battle of Wakefield, 30 December 1460, as part of the Wars of the Roses. In Ticknell's account of the battle and aftermarth he states that Sir Richard LIMBRICK was taken prisoner and later behedded (as was the Duke of York). Guppy in his examination of English names states that Sir Richard came from Gloucestershire and represents the earliest record of a Limbrick. Can anyone tell me if it might be possible to find out any further information about Sir Richard. I am not looking for family connections but rather something of the history of Sir Richard in 15th century Gloucestershire. Any ideas/suggestions? Doug Limbrick

    3. I'm still losing my hair because of this man who was my ggf. and any help, thoughts or suggestions would be manna from heaven. Edwin EYLES was bapt. at Brimpsfield 24.12.1825 to Richard ILES and Patience nee BLANDFORD. I believe that he died sometime before 1893. In August 1853 he was in Littledean Jail as ILES convicted of assault. His prison records show that at that time he was living in Alvington with a wife and 4 children. I have been unable to find the marriage or the births of the children, or to find them on the 1851 census. They appear on the 1871 census at Allastone Meend and on the 1881 census they are listed under HILES. Does anyone have the marriage and births on their list under HILES please? I would be very grateful for any information. John

    3. Dear Patricia, I was interested to see the names Scudamore and Mayo: they have come up in recent research on my husban'd mother's family, PRICE. On the LDS site I found a Sarah MAYO b 3 Dec 1694 in Hartpury, Glcs, married a John BUDDEN also from Hartpury, in St Nicholas Glcs on 7 Apr 1718. They were the grandparents of a Price from our line. So perhaps you should be looking in Hartpury. The parents and gparents of Sarah came from Tirley in Glcs. Try looking on the LDS, there may be something there for you more recent than these, so you can make the connection. Scudamore appears a lot on the Ralph Biglands vol I Glcs monumental inscriptions, on CD with Archive CD books. Good hunting! Best Flo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Geoffrey R. 1. [FoD] LIMBRICK FAMILY HISTORY
    2. G'day from Canberra, Australia. Apologies to those of you who may have recieved this via another list. I am new to this list and so am registering my interest in LIMBRICK family history. Main interest at the moment is attempting to achieve progress in two areas: Thomas LIMBRICK and Sarah COOK - can't find a marriage record. There are lots of Thomas LIMBRICKs in IGI but lack of info makes a fix impossible. Do know that they had at least one son Richard LIMBRICK born Gloucestershire c. 1821. Richard emigrated to colony of Victoria with his wife Ellen WALL (b. c. 1824). They had the following children with them when they emigrated: -Charles Henry (b c. 1842); -George (also known as James - b c. 1843, Rangeworthy); -Mary (b c. 1847); -Hannah Harriet (b c. 1849); -Eliza (b c. 1851). [the 5 children were Gloucestershire born, with a place being given only for George). I have had no luck in locating any of the above three generations of LIMBRICKs except in Australian records. Also interested in Thomas, John and Richard LIMBRICK convicted of burglary in 1836 (Glos Lent Assizes 22 March 1836). Death sentence commuted to transportation. Thomas was 26, John 29 and Richard 31 at date of commutation of death sentence. Address of three given as Wickwar. I think from IGI that they were children of John and Elizabeth LIMBRICK and were christened: Richard (16 May 1804 Thornbury), John (24 Sept 1806 Thornbury) and Thomas (4 Feb 1810 Cromhall). Dont have access to Glos Assize records so cant check back for other details from those records. The three were sent to hulk (Ganymede) where Thomas died in 1836 and the other two were transported Sept 1836 to Van Diemnen's Land. Comments, help or suggestions much appreciated. Doug LImbrick in sunny Autumn Canberra (25C/76F today).

    2. Gordon Morley
    3. Looking for any info on the origin of Henry TAYLOR. According to 1851 and other censuses he was born around 1821 at Newland. Henry TAYLOR, nail maker, married Ann JAMES on 9 Nov 1844 at Newland. No father's name given on certificate - both of full age. Both resided at Whitecliff. Issue: Sarah Ann born c1846 at Newland. Fanny born 1 Jun 1848 at Newland. Benjamin born c1851 at Newland. Fanny TAYLOR married John CONSTANT at Newland on 15 May 1870. Fanny was my great grandmother. I have searched the LDS film of the Newland register for Henry's baptism but to no avail. Although, there was no problem finding him in the 1851 and later censuses, I was not able to locate him in the 1841 census (not noteworthy for its clarity), which might have given some clue to his parentage. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Gordon Morley Orleans, Ontario
