I couldn't find any Yorkley residents on the Newland fiche when I checked at the GRO yesterday, but they were closing for the day so I didn't have time to look any further. 2. Hi, I'm new to the list, I'm from Lancashire but I can trace my roots through my maternal grandmother DAMARIS GIFFORD who was horn 1880 Newland daughter of PHOEBE MORSE and MARK GIFFORD. Mark and Jane were married 1815 in Tidenham. JANE LEWIS of Coleford born around 1793 was daughter of RICHARD and JANE LEWIS. PHOEBE MORSE was born around 1838 in Bream daughter of JOHN MORSE and DAMARIS BAILEY. JANE LEWIS was a beer house keeper according to the 1851 census. JOHN MORSE born 1791 West Dean son of George Morse christened 1758 Awre with Blakeney who was married to Elizabeth Davies 1783 Newland. ELIZABETH DAVIES born around 1747, My grandmother DAMARIS GIFFORD born in 1880 left the Forest in 1904 to marry my grandfather in Lancashire but she was thought to have worked as a cook at the Speech House before her marriage and I would be interested to know of anyone who had an ancestor with any connection with the Speech house around that time. 3. Hi, Just reposting my interests in the above families in case there have been some new subscribers join the list lately. HIGGINS, Charles born Little Dean 1882, living in Aber, South Wales in 1905 at time of his marriage, then in Mardy in South Wales until leaving in 1927 for Australia. Charles was the son of Thomas HIGGINS and Mary Ann VINES who married in 1868 in Bream and appear to have lived around that area. Thomas was from HEF (son of William) and Mary Ann VINES from around Lydney (daughter of George & Mary Ann Thomas). Thomas and Mary HIGGINS had the following children that I know of: Thomas, Mary, William, Albert, Kate and Charles. I would appreciate hearing from anyone researching these families.
