Robert Please don't shout i.e use all caps. Hard to read. However do use caps for SURNAMES as it makes them stand you. For more info about Daniel STINCHCOMBE we need to ask list member Dave HEDGES who is probably the GG Grandson of Daniels eldest Ann. Dave posted the following message on the 16th of March :- Does anyone have connections with any of the following STINCHCOMBE siblings from Hawkesbury Parish. Their father was probably Daniel but not 100% sure yet (perhaps someone can help verify): a.. Ann - Born about 1852. Died Didmarton about 1930. b.. Elizabeth - Born about 1854 - Later lived next door to the old Rising Sun public house in Bradley Road, Wotton-Under-Edge. c.. Sarah Jane - Born about 1860 d.. Daniel - Born about 1860 Daniel had a son George who was chauffeur to the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort. I am told he used to take his relatives for a drive in the Daimler when the Duke wasn't watching. I am the 2nd great grandson of Ann. Descendants of the above Stinchcombes, as I know them to date, are shown on my web site at: http://www.davehedges.care4free.net/ It's a biggish file and no index for it as yet. Regards Dave Hedges, Wotton-Under-Edge davehedges@care4free.net Researching: GALE, HEDGES, STINCHCOMBE, JONES, LIDDINGTON (not related). And I replied Hi Dave, Lets try this for size. The online IGi gives Daniel and Amelia as parents of Sarah Jane. Household 153 in Section 3 of the Hawkesbury census on Gordon's CD shows :- ILES Moses Widr 86 Rtd Farmer Hawkesbury STINCHCOMBE Daniel GrandSon 24 Ag Lab Hawkesbury Amelia Grand daughter 29 Servant Hawkesbury CORNOCK Henry Grand Daughter's Son 8 Scholar Slimbridge Which makes you very lucky as the following will show. The online IGI has a marriage of Daniel STINCHCOMBE to Amelia CORNOCK on the 5th of October 1850 and a christening for Daniel on the 17th February 1828 with parents of William and Elizabeth STINCHCOMBE, household 20 S3 STINCHCOMBE William 61 Ag Lab Hawkesbury Elizabeth 57 Ag Lab Hawkesbury William 30 Ag Lab Hawkesbury Thomas 15 Ag Lab Hawkesbury George 13 Ag Lab Hawkesbury Eli 11 Scholar And now we get to the really interesting get your teeth sharpened bit - The online IGI shows a William STINCHCOMBE marrying an Elizabeth HES in the right time frame. There is an Elizabeth Hes christened around the right time in Chipping Sodbury but I do not like her. I do, however, like the Christening of Elizabeth ILLES at Hawkesbury as daughter of Moses and Ann ILLES. Now read ILLES for ILES and ILES for HES and subject to verification in the parish records I am happy. No sign in online IGI of christenings of Amelia or Henry CORNOCK. Hope this helps. Now can you establish a link between your William above and Mary STINCHCOMBE who married Weekes PINCOTT in 1751. If so you have at least 3 relatives on the list Give me a ring on 0117 938 1338 if you want to dsicuss. And now Dave it is over to you. Geoffro
