Robert has kindly sent these 2 responses to current topics coal was delivered to the village by WINTLES of Acton Turville from thier depot at the rail sidings at Acton Turville station this was from at least 1950 to present day prior to this probably different carrier but coal was distributed by rail from Acton Turville, Chipping Sodbury, and Charfield. If you needed a pint of milk delivered in the Village Geoffro's relative Wilfred TANDY was your man, he and his wife had a milk round for a long time delivering milk by means of a yoke and two pails then George TANDY his son took over the milk then coming from Castle Coome Dairies George retired from the round about 10 years ago.Wilfred and his wife also made ice cream from at least 1935 and on Saturday nights sold fish & chips from thier farm on the plain opposite the general store. I remember Walter Thompson ran the sweet shop also on the plain. and re Brian MORGAN interest in MORGANS at Hakesbury there are a family of Morgans who farm at Hawkesbury his father married a relative Beatrice Chappell Mr MORGAN was said to had been 1 of only 3 survivors from HMS HOOD sunk by Bismark in WW2 I have no idea if this is true but as children in the village thats we were told.
