I am responding to a mix of on- and off-line messages,so hope this is not too confusing for listers. 1. Vivian's note re Bowman(later changed to Bowson) is a complex matter perhaps we can return to later: we dont all agree about the various stories of 16c origins,and I think this one is probably about our time at Cromhall or Tortworth,which precedes our arrival in Hawkesbury. 2.The William and Elisabeth(Copestake) Stinchcomb's of Ayrshire could prove interesting-hang in there---There is a Liverpool branch of no 'e' Stinchcomb's stemming from Henry Wm S,b New Brunswick,Canada in 1824,whose wife came fom Ayrshire and they had a son Wm Henry b1859 in Ardrossan,Ayr. My hunch is that this branch moved up to Canada from Maryland where the no 'e' S's flourished from late 17c,and yes Robert is right to say they had origins in Hawkesbury,but it rather depends on just where you link into the chain. Am anxious to know more about this Wm and Eliz-at a guess they probably lived into 20c so to recent for IGI,but could be in 1881 census? A few more clues please,Vivian----we used to think that our children were the first STINCHCOMBE's(sorry,editor at this lapse) brought up in Scotland,but it seems this might be due for a rethink, john s
