Thank you very much Marilyn for looking at the Long Newnton Census for me. Adrian asked about my interest in the name MELSOME/MILSOME etc. I have a copy of my grandmothers birth certificate which shows that she was born at Long Newnton Dec 1879, her father was Albert CHAPPELL who is from Hawkesbury and her mother was KATE MELSOME (Could be MILSOME). The 1881 census has the family living in Hawkesbury with the CHAPPELL grandparents, the childrens' birthplace is given as Newnton, but KATE's is shown as Hibden, Glos (any ideas anyone ?) She was born about 1860. My interest in the census for Long Newnton was because I wondered if she had family there and that was the reason for living there. She had had her first child at the age of 17. I have looked at your website Adrian and found it very interesting. I would be delighted if it proved to be that some of your ancestors were mine as well, as you have so much information there. Rita
