    3. Attention WATTS researchers (and others who may be researching the surnames of WITCHELL, SMITH, HODNOTT, MORGAN, and DAVIS) . I want to try out a line of descent of each of you for comparison with your own notes and data . to see if any of you can shoot a hole in what I've put together (or confirm it). This is because, it is all taken from IGI data and I have not seen any of the actual records. Please remember, it is not completely proven and shouldn't be taken as fact at this point but WATTS is a large family and for this reason I am asking for your consideration. Here goes: Mary WITCHELL WATTS c. 8 June 1834 Nailsworth Independent, Avening, Glos. (married George WICKS / WEEKS in Sopworth, Wilts. In 1852 - George was "of Alderley") She was a daughter of Nathaniel WATTS, Labourer and Ann DAVIS. Her brother, John WATTS was also christened on the same date and place as her. 2. Nathaniel WATTS c. 27 Apr 1806 Hawkesbury (married Ann DAVIS on 1 Sep 1833 Hawkesbury). He was a son of Daniel and Sarah WATTS. His siblings were: Mary WATTS c. 27 Apr 1808, George WATTS c. 8 Jul 1810, Daniel WATTS c. 19 April 1812, Robert WATTS c. 8 Aug 1813, William WATTS c. 2 Jun 1816, Maurice WATTS c. 16 Nov 1817, Thomas WATTS c. 15 Mar 1820 and Joseph WATTS c. 7 Sep 1823. All were christened in Hawkesbury. 3. Daniel WATTS c. 1781 Wotton under Edge (married Sarah _____, may be another WATTS on 27 Feb 1804 in Hawkesbury). He was a son of John WATTS and Ann MORGAN. His siblings were: Thomas WATTS c. 20 July 1783 Wotton under Edge and Jane WATTS c. 1 Aug 1784 Oldbury on the Hill. 4. John WATTS / WATS c. 12 Sep 1749 Wotton under Edge (married Ann MORGAN on 27 July 1777 at Oldbury on the Hill). He was a son of John WATTS and Esther HODNOTT. His siblings were: William WATTS c. 17 Mar 1745, Mary WATTS c. 27 Oct 1747 and Thomas WATTS c. 21 May 1756. All siblings were christened in Wotton under Edge. 5. John WATTS c. 3 May 1713 Westonbirt (married Esther HODNOTT on 1 May 1745 in Newington Bagpath). He was a son of Walter WATTS and Hester SMITH. His siblings were: James WATTS / WATS c. 21 Jun 1708, Thomas WATTS c. 6 May 1711, Nathaniel WATTS c. 10 Apr 1715, Hester WATTS c. 7 Apr 1717 and Mary WATTS c. 25 Jan 1718. All siblings were christened at Westonbirt. 6. Walter WATTS c. 24 Feb 1681 Oldbury on the Hill (married Hester SMITH on 4 Aug 1707 in Westonbirt). He was a son of John WATTS / WATS and Mary WITCHELL. His siblings were Thomasin WATTS c. 9 Sep 1679 and Mary WATTS c. 3 Aug 1684, both christened at Oldbury on the Hill. 7. John WATTS married Mary WITCHELL on 10 Feb 1678 at Oldbury on the Hill. Hopefully some of you may be able to prove me wrong or right and then I'll know how close I am to being on the right track. My quest has been to find out where WITCHELL falls into my WATTS line. While it seems improbable that a family would carry one specific name through six generations it is still possible if, say, every generation's Mary had it for a middle name and there is only one generation that I can see without a Mary and that doesn't mean anything really - maybe I just haven't found that Mary yet! And maybe they all remembered Mary WITCHELL of generation 7 because perhaps she was the 'old lady' with the loot! LOL Anxiously awaiting your input and HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING!
