To all Watts researchers and anyone who knows anything about Wortley (?House) between Wotton under Edge and Alderley. George WATTS, my gt grandfather was born at Wortley on 19 November 1847. His parents (now confirmed by birth certificate) were Thomas Watts (of Hawkesbury) and Emily (nee Whitfield). Thomas's occupation was Miller. In 1851, the family are at Falfield. My Pevsner (first edition) has an entry for Wortley House and I wondered whether Thomas was a miller there or was there another mill in the area? Is Wortley House still standing and does anybody know who the owners might have been in 1847 or whether there are any documents relating to employees? Thanks for your help Carole
