Barrie COX (?) kindly brought a book of the Cotswolds with him to the Get Together. Contained within was a picture taken in Sherston, Wilts of F H THOMPSON, baker and confectioner with a car, horse and cart and hand cart (or barrow - forgive my ignorance). Investigation shows that F H THOMPSON was the son of Henry William THOMPSON and Ellen HOLMAN a native of Devon. Francis Henry ( Frank) was born in 1884. He married Violet Ivory DIX and they had 2 children Gladys in 1907 and Henry Samuel ( Sam ). Sam died last year. To make things easy (!!!!!) for THOMPSON researchers Gladys married Thomas Ralph THOMPSON and had a daughter Josephine who has supplied the details in this mail. Frank was apprenticed out to a baker named - yup you guessed it - THOMPSON in Bristol somewhere near Horfield.....could this be David THOMPSON ? The THOMPSONs have a long history in Sherston although it is not yet known whether the Hawkesbury THOMPSONs are linked to the Sherston. Geoffro The Pond Dipper Http://www.HawkesburyFamilyHistory.co.uk
