Hi JENKINSON of SA You may well have a connection to Hawkesbury Charles JENKINSON of Walcot Nr Chartbury, in Oxfordshire, during the reign of King George III held various important offices, he later became Baron Hawkesbury, due the the fact his family held the manorial seat and Later Earl of Liverpool, why Liverpool I am not sure?. His son b. June 8th 1770 was Robert BANKS JENKINSON his mother Amelia nee WATTS died in childbirth he became an MP at an early age, and went to the house of Lords as Lord Hawkesbury, on the assassination of Mr PERCIVAL in 1812 became Prime MIinister, from 1812 to 1827 being Englands longest serving Prime Minister. His office ended due to what was supposedly a severe stroke he died without issue Dec 1828 and is buried in St Mary's Hawkesbury. He was succeeded by his 1/2 brother Charles Cecil COPE JENKINSON after who's death the Earldome became extinct, I recall an Elizabeth DRAYFUSS lived at Hawkesbury in the sixties she was aunt to Sir Anthony Banks JENKINSON 13th Baronet. You should find the family history well documented I think there is still a relative of the JENKINSONS still at Hawkesbury today. regards Robert Millard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Geoff Brightman" <geoff_brightman6@thefreeinternet.co.uk> To: <ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2000 5:28 PM Subject: [[Hawks]] JENKINSON - forwarded > Unfortunately I did not know my Father well, his name was HENRY > (HARRY)JENKINSON, mother was MARGARET TASKER, spelling suspect, but > she had siblings JIMMY, FLORENCE issue PAULINE,EDITHm BILLY MAC, AND > MARY.
