Hi Listers, Does anyone have any information on George ILES "of Upton in the Parish of Hawkesbury in the county of Gloucester Butcher" who died in 1798? According to his Will he had a son William, daughter Hannah who married John BLUNSON "of Castle Comb in the county of Wilts labourer" and daughter Mary who married James BASEMAN "of Frampton Cotterrole in the county of Gloucester labourer". Is he the George ILES with wife Anne who from the IGI data appears to have had at least two children at Yate (1744 and 1746) and then seems to have moved to Hawkesbury between 1746 and 1752 where they had more children? George left all his property to his son William so was William a butcher or did he become a butcher at Hawkesbury? As a matter of interest George's property is described as the "tenement or dwelling house wherein I now dwell with the outhouses shop stable garden and paddock of ground and premises thereto adjoining and belonging situate and being at Upton in the parish of Hawkesbury aforesaid and now in my possession and which I purchased of and from the late Robert Howett BARTON deceased" Furthermore...... "and all that tenement which I built at one end of the paddock *** and adjoining thereto with the garden thereto belonging also situate and being at Upton aforesaid and now in the occupation of Thomas COLEMAN as my tenant" The Will was made on 6 August 1796 and witnessed by John PROUT, James RODWAY and John SYMONS ( who probably wrote the will). The Will was proved 16 July 1798 - value £100!!!! Dennis
