At the suggestion of The Pond Dipper I am re-posting my interests. Was my Lucy descended from a Hawkesbury STINCHCOMBE? Lucy, from Yate; married in Bristol and lived in Wickwar, just a spit from Hawkesbury, is my one and only STINCHCOMBE . Lucy STINCHCOMBE, my great great grandmother, married George REDDY on 25 Jun 1831 at St.Phil. & St.Jac. Bristol; their daughter, Lucy REDDY, born in Wickwar, married Ezekiel Holman TREVETHAN and their eldest son, Sydney Charles TREVETHAN, was my mother's father. Lucy STINCHCOMBE's birthplace and date are established as Yate, 1808 from the 1851 & 1881 census. The only Stinchcomb family producing children in Yate c.1808 were: Arthur STINCHCOMB m Charlotte BAKER (b. Yate 1792), 22 Feb 1806, Yate Their children were: Harriott STINCHCOMB b. c.27 Jul 1806, Yate (Father - Arthur; Mother - Charlotte) George STINCHCOMB b. c.26 Aug 1810, Yate, (Father - Arthur; Mother - Charlotte) Unfortunately there is no sign of Lucy, who would fit neatly between these dates. I am informed that that the entering of data into the Yate Parish Register at this time was fairly haphazard, with a number of christening entries missing the surname, and sometimes one or both of the parent's names. There is no Lucy Stinchcomb christening recorded in the IGI for 1808 ( +/- 10yrs). Notes on George REDDY and Lucy STINCHCOMBE: George REDDY b. c.25 Apr 1802 at Wickwar. 25 June 1831 George REDDY m. Lucy STINCHCOMBE St.Phil. & St.Jac. Bristol George and Lucy's eldest daughter, Sarah, was born in Wickwar c.1834. George was dead by 1881 (Lucy recorded as Widow in the 1881 Census).
