Thanks to all who responded to my query about a church or chapel at Inglestone Common, sounds as if my mother was right after all. Robert asked about my CHAPPELL history, I did post it before but here is again. My Grandmother was born Emily CHAPPELL, she was born at Long Newnton near Tetbury, her father was Albert CHAPPELL and her mother Kate MELLSOM (not sure about the spelling) On the 1881 census she appears at Hawkesbury, the family living with her Grand parents. (There was a sister called Edith Kate and a brother called Edward) The grand parents were Joseph CHAPPELL, christened at Hawkesbury on 1 December 1822 and who married Martha SIMS on 2 June 1844 at Hawkesbury. His parents were Thomas CHAPPELL and Mary ROLF who were married on 30 April 1820, at Hawkesbury I have found Thomas CHAPPELL who was christened on 9 October 1796 at Hawkesbury whose parents were Richard and Jane, but I do not know if this is the right Thomas CHAPPELL. I believe Martha SIMS's parents were Robert SIMS and Ann THOMAS. Robert also asked if my YOUNG family was connected to the THOMPSON family who ran the store in Hawkesbury, well unfortunately I do not know, my Grandfather Arthur YOUNG was born at Nettleton in Wiltshire in 1874, and I know no more about the family really, other than several of my aunts and uncles were born in Hawkesbury around 1902 to 1910 approx., my mother was born at Tresham in 1916 and sometime in the next few years her family moved to the Mill in Hill Mill Lane between Ozleworth and Wortley. My Grandmother Emily nee CHAPPELL, died in childbirth in 1919 and is buried in Tresham churchyard but without any headstone, etc. Hope that doesn't all sound too boring to everyone else ? I have been trying to read Bill's book on the web site, but I seem to be having trouble getting the pages to show up on the screen in full, has anyone else had a problem, or is it my equipment ?
