Hi Rita It would seem your connected to Hawkesbury alright, I have a couple of points, I haven't looked at the Chappell side of my family for a while so I checked my notes I also have a Thomas CHAPPELL and Mary BALL who had a child Joseph born about 1822 from Hawkesbury I have it in my notes but can't see where I found it. Richard and Jane CHAPPELL I have found a bit of a mystery they had several children but can't find his birth the only Richards I have found are from Oldbury on Hill near Didmarton a well known center for Chappells Regards Robert Millard ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rita Hatcliffe" <rita_hatcliffe@rmsciren.demon.co.uk> To: <ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 04, 2000 3:02 PM Subject: [[Hawks]] CHAPPELL FAMILY HISTORY > > I am quite new to the family history game but I wonder if the following > information about my family is, in anyway, connected to anyone else's > research and whether or not anyone has any information which may be of > interest to myself. > My Grandmother was born Emily CHAPPELL, she was born at Long Newton near > Tetbury, her father was Albert CHAPPELL and her mother Kate MELLSOM (not > sure about the spelling) > On the 1881 census she appears at Hawkesbury, the family living with her > Grand parents. > They were > Joseph CHAPPELL, christened at Hawkesbury on 1 December 1822 and who > married Martha SIMS on 2 June 1844 at Hawkesbury. > His parents were > Thomas CHAPPELL and Mary ROLF who were married on 30 April 1820, at > Hawkesbury > I have found Thomas CHAPPELL who was christened on 9 October 1796 at > Hawkesbury whose parents were Richard and Jane, but I do not know if this > is the right Thomas CHAPPELL. > I believe Martha SIMS's parents were > Robert SIMS and Ann THOMAS. > On the 1851 census, Albert CHAPPELL, who I believed to have been born in > 1850, doesn't appear with Joseph and Martha, but a James does who was born > in 1850, perhaps a name change ! > > I only registered a few days ago, but have been very interested in the > e-mails received so far. > > Rita Hatcliffe. > > > ==== ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY Mailing List ==== > When replying to messages please make sure to remove ALL the "Re: and Hawks" bits in the subject line as otherwise these will be repeated. > Penalty for non-compliance is a Pond Dipping. > > ============================== > Genealogy calendars, guestbooks and more: > Visit RootsWeb's Resource Center at > http://resources.rootsweb.com/ > >
