Hi Brian Comely The Eggshill common that John refers to is in Yate he is correct in there are Lucy Stinchcombs else where but the fact she has been asked twice where she was born both times she says "Yate" there are Stinchcombs living in Yate and close by who are named Arthur, there is a thought that they may have been Quakers and not recorded in Cof E but I would think Arthur was from Yate and therefore might be able to trace him back to Nehamiah from Hawkesbury who we know he died in Chipping Sodbury which is more or less Yate, I will soon search the local churchyards for STINCHCOMB burials we will see what can be found. Eggshill common was a coalmining area about Lucy's time I think pay book's etc have survived just might find something there. regards Robert Millard
