Hi, Vivian's message provided a nice seque for me. I'm researching my newly-discovered THOMPSON family. Mine have roots in Bitton/Swinford/North Stoke/Upton Cheyney (back to early 1700s). One branch was recently discovered in Publow, and I'm aware of other Publow researchers. Parts of my family relocated to Selly Oak, near/in Birmingham by the 1861 census. Some favorite family names have been: Coster, Lawson, Sumption (just discovered a THOMPSON/SUMPTION marriage). One year ago I had the name of my GGGgfather, James THOMPSON, b. 1795, North Stoke. He married Hester MEERE in Bitton. I also had their daughter, Mary Ann, who ended up marrying her MEERE cousin. I discovered that James/Hester had 12 children, and that James' parents were BOTH Thompson. I know Hawkesbury is a few communities away, but mine seemed to have travelled a bit, and I thought I'd ask. I'll be unsubscribing Monday/tomorrow night (thought I had another week before Thanksgiving!!) and will miss list postings until I return. I'm happy to share what I have so far. Thanks.
