Hi listers I am looking for any connections to CHAPPELL family especialy Richard who married Ann STOCKWELL they had 3 children as far as I know Isaac b.1795 (my 4x great grandfather) James b.1797. Frances b.1801 all at Oldbury-on-hill (originaly part of Hawkesbury parish) from details I found at the GRO Isaac says his family moved to Hawkesbury abt 1805 they may have lived elsewhere before this Isaac at the age of 15 was contracted to work for John CHILDS Inn keeper of Charfield for 1 year for £3 at a mop fair, he ran off after 8 months and joined the South Glouscestershire Malitia did 5 years service, he married Jane (surname as yet unknown) in St Pauls Bristol abt 1814 and had 5 children James b.1817 Isaac b.1820 Sarah b.1822 William b.1824 Fannia b.1826 all by wife Jane she dies soon after and he marries Elizabeth Gingell at Hawkesbury 1849 same year as his son Isaac marries just to confuse matters, I have traced his son James who in 1881 is living in Back St Hawkesbury a pensioner from Royal Marines also at house as house keeper is Alice CHAPPELL his niece born Portmouth 1865 which would perhaps suggest his brother William was also in Navy but I can find no record of him or Alice being at Portsmouth. Sarah marries Isaac CLARK at Hawkesbury 1846. I have recently been able to trace the CHAPPELLs back to William and Agnis DEANE abt 1565 at Oldbury-On -Hill and it seems very possible that most local CHAPPELLs of all spellings can be traced to them including the ones from North Nibley, Hawkesbury Hillesley, Castle Combe, Malmsbury, Easton Grey etc regards Robert Millard
I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN A FAMILY BY THE NAME OF CHAPPEL IN HAWKESBURY, THE FATHER'S NAME IS RICHARD AS WELL, BUT HE MARRIED A JANE SPACKMAN IN OCTOBER 1777, IN STANTON ST QUINTON WILTSHIRE. I HAVE FOUND A SETTLEMENT CERTIFICATE FOR THE FAMILY IN OCTOBER 1777 FROM STANTON ST QUINTON TO HAWKESBURY BUT I HAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION IN RESPECT OF RICHARD. I HAVE FOUND INFORMATION RELATING TO HIS WIFE AND THAT IS MAINLY FOR STANTON ST QUINTON. I CANNOT FIND A DEATH FOR RICHARD ALTHOUGH I HAVE FOUND THE DEATH OF JANE IN HAWKESBURY IN 1832.
