    3. Hi Dennis I have encountered similarly termed relatives in my own research and from what I have read on the topic, the term "cousin" is most likely to relate to what we still term a cousin today, but it could also be other types of more distant relative ie second cousin etc. However, it is most likely that it does relate to a relative and not just a close family friend - sometimes referred to as "Kinsman". There is also a Zacharius Iles of Westerleigh parish who left a will proved 1728. Might this be the brother? 3. Hi Derek, Thanks for the information. The Zacharius ILES you mention could very well be his brother. Do you have a reference for this will since it is not on the list I obtained from the Gloucester Record Office? I have a couple of birth and marriage references to ILES in that area but as yet have not pursued them. Zacharius could very well be the start of this offshoot. Dennis
