    3. Hi, I do not know if records here in the U.S. are worse than England but we find this sort of date problem a lot. We have several persons, not too far back (grandmother, great grandmother) that have at least a 10 year spread in birth dates. One example: On the 10 year federal census she gained in age 5 years, 8 years, 15 years. We have a 10 year spread in birth dates between court house records, marriage record, tombstone, obit. Don't panic, we rarely find a completly correct set of records.
