    1. [HWK] WALLINGTON deaths
    2. Lee Paltridge
    3. Hi All I’ve been lurking quietly in the gum trees for a while, but thought I should share some verified dates for various cousins to put on the interconnected family charts. I now have the certificates for all these events relating to three generations of my Wallington ancestors. My 3x great grandparents were William WALLINGTON and Martha ASHBY. Their death certificates arrived today. William WALLINGTON died 30th March 1865, Hillsley Hawkesbury, Male, 86 years, Carpenter, of Decay of Nature. Certified. Informant: The mark of William Thompson, in Attendance, of Hillsley Hawkesbury. (Who was he ?) Martha (ASHBY) WALLINGTON died 9th September 1854, Hillsley Hawkesbury, Female,75 years, Wife of William Wallington, Carpenter. of Heart disease, Many years. Dropsy six months. Certified. Informant. The mark of Hannah Stinchcomb Present at the death, of Upton, Hawkesbury. (I know who she is! Their daughter b1813 who married John Stinchcombe). I’m sure I gave you the death place and dates for my 2x great grandparents Lewis WALLINGTON (son of the above) and Ann WISE before, but here they are again - both died at Horse Shoe Lane, Thornbury, Lewis 21 Nov 1885, and Ann 1 March 1896. My great grandmother was their daughter Lucy WALLINGTON. She was born Falfield 28 January 1846 (On censuses she is shown as being born variously at Thornbury, Cromhall and Falfield, but Falfield is on the birth certificate). Lucy WALLINGTON married Henry John CLARK, Policeman, St Pauls, Bristol 7 Sept 1868. Lucy died 23 St Johns Road, Bristol, 19 July 1909. Henry Clark (born St Pauls, Montpelier Bristol 4.9.1843) died 26 May 1919 at Stapleton. (Lived Prospect Avenue, Fishponds) Now I know where all these places are, I feel right at home on the list. In June I went to stay with a Clark cousin near Bath, whose patient husband drove us to all the family places I had so far turned up on our tree - Hawkesbury, Hillesley, Wooton Under Edge on one jaunt. Thornbury (WISE, CHILD, COSSHAM, WITCHELL etc), Frampton on Severn (ROE) and Arlingham (ROWLES) on the next, and over to Newnham (BOWYER and PRICE/PREECE) and Littledean (CLARK) on another day - and lots more in Bristol, around Somerset and Devon too. The weather was glorious and England looking its absolute best - Wow! As we drove through Hawkesbury Upton, I noted the position of the Beaufort Arms so that next time I come to England, I’ll try to time it for a Get Together, and I’ll know just where to come. We nearly missed the turning to Hawkesbury as the signpost was very small, and our attention was on the monument, but we backed up carefully and dived down the unexpectedly steep hill, and through the tunnel of greenery to discover the lovely church. Andy Wallington and I managed to meet briefly - wonderful to link our families again after 150 years or so. Thanks to the List. All the best for 2004. Lee Perth Oz
