My own grandfather Stan STINCHCOMBE told me he could remember 'Grampy Joe and Granny Polly' cutting the corn in the field on which Birgage Close stands, by hand with a scythe, whilst Granny Polly tied and stacked it up. He said that they would work all day and drink nothing but scrumpy from a flagon. I have some research on all the brothers in the picture, but have concentrated on Albert and his family. regards.
