    3. Good morning Richard, You know me of old now as a direct of Charlotte Teagle and I would love to have the latest info on the Teagle's and Jacobs hope to hear from you soon All the best Jim ----Original Message----- From: Richard Teagle [mailto:richardt@wales.ac.uk] Sent: 11 August 2005 10:59 To: ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [HWK] Teague Patsy I suspect DEAUGE is meant to be TEAGUE. There were many TEAGUEs in Forest of Dean/Severside are in 1700s etc. Apart from TEAG and TEAGE as obvious spelling variations, I have seen the name transcribed as TEAUGE in Ruardean area, which is close to your DEAUGE. I have never found TEAGLE and TEAGUE to be linked. All TEAGLE's in the Wilts/Glos area descend from Nicholas TACKLE, lecturer/curate of Tockenham near Wootton Bassett during the Civil War. Nicholas and one of his sons who was later churchwarden spelt it TACKLE themselves, but his wife is buried as TEAGLE, and his other son (my ancester) and grandchildren spelt it TAGLE, TEAGEL or TEAGLE. There were temporary spelling variations with a K instead of G (TEKEL. TEAKLE) as they moved into parishes such as Oldbury/Didmarton and Horsley in Glos, as there were already TEAKLEs in the Horsley/Bisley areas, but whatever variations occur, there is always an "L" in it. Incidently, for THOMPSON/HUNT researchers, Nicholas TACKLE above was the 2xgtgrandfather of Charlotte TEAGLE, wife of Samuel HUNT (both buried Hawkesbury), mother of Shadrack HUNT of Hawkesbury, whose two daughters both married THOMPSONS. I now have details back 4 generations before Charlotte if anyone wants them, plus Nicholas' wife's family (JACOB) back to her grandfather who leased Queen's Court Farm, Tockenham in the 1570s. My posting on 9 Aug is a mystery - I didn't intend posting anything. Must have hit the wrong button, or its those gremlins again. Richard. -----Original Message----- From: Roger Witchell [mailto:roger.witchell@virgin.net] Sent: 10 August 2005 22:05 To: ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HWK] Teague Can Richard Teagle please advise or anyone on list come to that..... as experienced Glos. researchers.
