Have deleted a few emails accidentally, so apologies to anyone concerned. I am new to the etiquet of the site so am probably making some mistakes. My Grandfather was Joel (trombone!). Photos do exist but not easily available at the moment, but will follow up. My mother Margaret (Joel's youngest child) died in 1999. She told me lots about her childhood in Hawkesbury, and the house in France Lane. The house that they lived in and I can remember staying in, still exists, but the family also lived next door (now demolished?). Joel was the son who worked on the rail tunnel; they walked to work and back from Hawkesbury! He went to live in Swindon and worked for the GWR, met and married Marion Isobel Fairbairn. Her grandfather was James Fairbairn, a Scot who travelled south to work at Swindon in 1842. He was known as 'number 1 in the works', and appears in th Fawcett List. The Chappell side of the family is as yet unresearched, other than my father; Albert Edward Chappell of Dursley born 1914. Thought I would start with the Stinchcombes (you seem to have done most of it for me!).
