On the 1881 and 1901 census, I have recently come across an Ellen, born about 1831/32 in Hawkesbury Upton, married to Joseph ENGLISH, with son James ENGLISH (born about 1860), living in Lea, near Malmesbury. I haven't come across a marriage for this Ellen and Joseph yet, but it's a possibility that she is Ellen TEAGLE, born May 1831 in Hawkesbury Upton, daughter of Thomas TEAGLE and his first wife Ruth (daughter of John PRITCHARD and Patience CHAPPEL). Ellen TEAGLE is not on the 1841 or 51 censuses with her father Thomas and his second wife Ann in Hillesley, but as Ellen's mother died in childbirth, it's probable that she was raised elsewhere by her mothers's family. But it is known that Ellen TEAGLE had a son in 1858 who in later life retired to live in Lea, nr Malmesbury, hence the possibility that Ellen ENGLISH might be Ellen TEAGLE. Before following this up, does anyone else lay claim to this Ellen ENGLISH in Lea in their family or know of another Ellen born about 1831/2 in Hawkesbury that this could be.
