Hi All I'll start again Evan STINCHCOMBE married Lucy BAKER at Hawkesbury, Lucy was the daughter of Edwin Jesse BAKER and Mary Ann WATTS married 23 July 1881,Mary Ann said she was born at Hawkesbury, the marriage cert says she is 22 in 1881. In 1891 they lived at Tresham but had been at Horton from 1885-1890 I have traced Edwin who likes to call himself Jesse and does not age from 1891-1901 (good trick that) but I can not find Mary Ann WATTS. As Carole said there are a couple of Mary Ann WATTS about, one b,1833 and the other b,1847 but this one is 1859 another clue is Evan had a child named Maurice the first time I came across this name in the STINCHCOMBE family but a common name in the WATTS family I also think there is a Horton connection here? Evan was the son of Thomas STINCHCOMBE and Lucy Annie BLAKEN daughter of Charles of Hawkesbury common his first wife, they had 3 children Evan, Clara Ann, and Beatrice, he secondly married Sarah Ann TANDY,they had 7 children Bertha Mabel, Andrew,Mildred Ethel, Ivy Olive, Violet May, Reginald Wilfred and Vera Gladys, Thomas STINCHCOMBE was the son of Joseph S and Mary Jane DEACON his birth cert says he was born at "Waterloo" Hawkesbury has anyone come across this place before its located somewhere on Hawkesbury common. regards Robert Visit my web pages at http://www.btinternet.com/~ra.millard/index.htm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Robert That's better! I'm still a bit puzzled though. If you have the marriage cert. for Edwin Jesse BAKER & Mary Ann WATTS, doesn't it give her father's name? I know that the Mary Ann WATTS born abt 1847 (source 1851 census - daughter of Lewis WATTS & Mary or Hester)) appears to be too old, but she was born in Horton and her grandparents were Maurice WATTS & Hester TANDY (nee Not known) and she had an Uncle Maurice as well. But, Mary Ann is not with Lewis & Mary WATTS on the 1861 census - I wonder whether she was still alive then! Back to you! Cheers Carole
