G'day Steve, The FreeCEN site is doing a progressive roll-out to avoid the infamous 1901 census online debacle. Eventually all areas will have access but by rolling out progressively, it keeps the server load to a manageable level. Given that the servers are being provided free by Rootsweb.com, safeguarding their servers has to have high priority. Hope you get access soon (I had a preview peek some weeks ago and I was reasonable happy with it). Bear in mind that the web site will only have those pieces that have been transcribed thus far. There is heaps more work to be transcribed and the project will need more volunteers for several years to come. If you want to volunteer to help, contact Dave Newbury at [email protected] Warmest regards, Terry Waters-Marsh Rockhampton Queensland 4701 Australia FreeCEN Coordinator - Wiltshire (visit the project at http://freecen.rootsweb.com) ARCHIVE CD BOOKS - http://www.archivecdbooks.org A project to reproduce old books on CD for genealogists and pay for the restoration of books in Record Offices, Libraries, etc. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Baker [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2003 4:40 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [HWK] FreeCens I find when I go to the site and click 'search the database' it says : 'FreeCEN Search is being deployed gradually, and is not yet available from your location Access will be available from this location in approximately 29 days' Is this just me or is it not available in UK yet.
