    3. Many thanks to Robert who sat, patiently, for hours yesterday, in the Beaufort. For those of you who weren't there, imagine a doctor in his surgery. The "patients" are seated in a semicircle, awaiting their turn for a consultation., Some of them comparing notes while they wait. One by one they make their way to see the Doctor with all his diagnostic equipment (laptop, scanner, printer).. Some bring "samples" for analysis. Many of these are tested by Doctor Millard and a diagnosis given immediately. Some are given appointments for further consultation. Ultimately, the results of these examinations will be available to all. Doctor Robert, you work very hard on our behalf - thank you! Carole

    3. Hi Carole, Dr Robert, and everyone else Sorry I could not be at the get-together yesterday. We are in the middle of moving my 90-year old mother-in-law from Southampton to Bristol, and yesterday was spent packing up her belongings. Next weekend we hire the van to do the move. I don't feel the need for a Dr Robert consultation myself at the moment, but here is some other useful advice for healthy living. The Bristol & Avon FHS 1891 census index can now be accessed at the pay-per-view Family History Online site at http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/. This covers the Hawkesbury area (although not Didmarton and other parishes which have always been Gloucestershire or Wiltshire), but is also useful for relatives who may have moved into Bristol or other local areas. It is also available on fiche and CD, but you may not have (or may think you do not have) reason for that expenditure. My gt-grandmother's sister, Eleanor Cooper, left Hawkesbury in the 1870's, and moved to London, where she married. She died in Birmingham in 1898. No reason to look for her in the 1891 index to Bristol, but there she is, with her husband and two sons. This is an index only, so you will have to look at the census page for full details, but it is cheap and easy to use, as are the other databases you can search on this site.
