Hello, Patsy Thanks for your prompt reply. BOWKETT only came into the family as a third marriage abt 1891 (that I've not yet found the details for in Herefordshire) of my 2x great grandmother Susannah. Have you got a link to her? No link to Hereford COOK as far as I know. GLEED/GLEAD came I believe from the Isle of Wight and filtered north to make a concentration in Wiltshire in 18/19c and Sylvester's pa was probably descended from them. Interesting to see that its still going. From Middle English meaning Kite (the bird). No wonder we can't leave this subject alone. isn't it! Best wishes Brian
