    3. Hello everyone, My cousin is looking at.......... DANIEL CHAPPELL d. 1819 aged 74 yrs in CAERWENT The first child in the family was baptised in Caerwent was in 1780. EDWARD CHAPPELL my cousins gt.grandfather d. 1848 in TIDENHAM, CHEPSTOW. No baptism found so far so Daniel and family might have lived elsewhere before that...... DANIEL & Edward both masons. William also in line. Robert's wonderful site has a DANIEL CHAPPELL s/o Daniel & Esther 19 Feb 1745 Is anyone looking at this family by any chance? Would anyone know if there was a Caerwent/Hawkesbury connection. I know that the Duke of Beaufort had place in Wentloog. Any help always appreciated. Regards Patsy Witchell

    3. Hi Patsy I think I was in touch with your cousin about 2 years ago the most likely candidate for Daniel is that of Daniel CHAPPELL born Hawkesbury 1745 son of Daniel and Esther nee TANNER married at Wotton Under Edge but the trail ends there I cannot find anymore details, Its most likely Daniels father came from Oldbury On the Hill, the CHAPPELL families in Glos can almost without exception be traced to Oldbury and one of the 4 trades they can be divided into for centuries in Oldbury were masons, many more CHAPPELL's much later went to mine coal in Wales but there seems to be no "native" CHAPPELL's on that side of the Severn. I wonder if the local poorlaw documents might turn up anything. regards Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Witchell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2003 9:21 AM Subject: [HWK] CHAPPELL > Hello everyone, > > My cousin is looking at.......... > > DANIEL CHAPPELL d. 1819 aged 74 yrs in CAERWENT > > The first child in the family was baptised in Caerwent was in 1780. > > EDWARD CHAPPELL my cousins gt.grandfather d. 1848 in TIDENHAM, CHEPSTOW.
