Hi Adrian, We must stop meeting like this. last year I created an excel file of almost 300 CHAPPLE christenings from, Hawkesbury, Didmarton, Oldbury and Great Badminton. The CHAPPLE.s /CHAPPELL.s etc I was looking at were linked to all those parishes. I am happy to send you this if required. I can see only 2 Mary CHAPPELL.s in Gloucestershire that would perhaps fit yours and she is a servant in the tything of Upton in 1851 in the household of James SNELL. The other is in Stroud visiting. Not a lot of help I know but something to think about is :- In Hawkebury in 1851 there is a 12 year old Isaac HOPKINS with parents Isaac and Sarah. I know of 2 (of the 3) base born children of Betty COATES where 1 acknowledged the father (you guessed it - a THOMPSON) and the other did not. A long shot perhaps but who knows. If you can find Isaac HOPKINS dying that will give you a clue to his age and may if you can find the right death certificate assist.
