    3. Ok Janet and Geoffro - Ddon't get too excited or upset if this contradicts anything , but I have a copy of a hand written family tree from a branch of the Carter family. This is mostly done from word of mouth and research made by a descendant of that line and was given to my father. I have not had a chance to check any of it or even transcribe it, but the link is to a JAMES CARTER who was the brother of THOMAS CARTER who married a Martha - I do not have a surname but I suspect it might be your Martha Winbow? This tree lists the parents of Thomas and James as Thomas CARTER and Ann REED married 25/9/1797. The grandson of this James went by the fabulous name of JOHN THOMAS DEBRELL CARTER (!) and married Emily THOMPSON - and here I'm on solid ground as I know that their daughter Ethel was the source of a lot of the info - I met the lady in the late 1960's just before she died, when my dad was doing some ancestor hunting, and tracked the family down. If you want this info and the stuff that came with it I will try and get it into a GEDCOM file so you can see and judge for yourselves. There is one other link (I've just noticed - JAMES (b. 1805) seems to have married and Ann HOWELL.
