Hi Patsy, Thank you for your message. I am off for the weekend so can't give it the attention it deserves but I will answer a few questions. Elizabeth HESKINS did marry William FORTUNE. Someone has ascribed William with a different wife but I am sure that Elizabeth is correct... There were both HESKINS and HOPKINS in the area and I think that as HOPKINS is a more common name the transcriber didn't look properly but it was changed later. There are some references to HESKINS in connection with land ownership in the Berkeley manuscripts and other documents. An early seating plan of North Nibley church shows seats allocated to I think two HESKINS family heads. The references to NIcholas HESKINS as mayor of Wotton-under-Edge refers to two men, grandfather and grandson. I would very much like to know more about Lydia LAMBE....
