    3. Hi Janet, In fact I had just noticed a message of yours on net year 2000 re the Fortune family and Upthorpe. Many thanks for all this information: Walter Fortune was Mayor of Monmouth 1691 BUT a list of landowners in WONASTOW about a mile out of the town of Monmouth has a WILLIAM FORTUNE 1606 which makes me wonder if his father below? They must have popped back and forth betwen two counties? Also saw : Records Carpenters Hall 1654-1694 Mary Fortune d/o Moore Fortune of Astnam to Charles Eyre date 4 Sept. 1688-178- Do you know anything about this....Astnam have not heard of it? I am glad that you have told me Heskins as I have Hoskins down......their son Revd. John Fortune m. Anne Witchell Will look up notes regarding names below but the Nelmes family also interconnect with the Witchells. Edith Nelmes m. Lawrence Witchell 29 Sept 1635 she was d/o Henry Nelmes and Elizabeth Sellman Oddly the William Witchell of Tresham m. Anne Knight( Mother Joyce Weekes Knight) I was talking of had a son William who m.2 Maria Selman 1774 from whom we descend. These names are so inter connected. It is difficult to sort them all out ! I can see I will have to look again at all the notes in more detail!!!!!!! There are notes at Gwent record office on the Moore Fortune family.....I have not seen them. Moore Fortune was Vicar of Usk and Rector of Panteg.
