    3. Hi Robert Thanks for the translation. I'm curious because of an inscription inside a book that Margaret HARE has - "Sarah WATTS Oxnel Court, Gloucestershire Feb 27th 1877". I think that this may be Sarah COOK (daughter of James COOK & Angelina....)and wife of Maurice WATTS. Incidentally, the account book which I mentioned to you on Saturday probably relates to Fern Leaze Farm, Ozleworth, where the WATTS family (including Maurice & Sarah)farmed 330 acres in 1861. Does Fernleaze still exist? Cheers Carole PS Many thanks for organising Saturday's get-together - the highlight of which had to be your baby photo!! -----Original Message----- From: Robert Millard [mailto:ra.millard@btinternet.com] Sent: 08 May 2005 21:11 To: ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HWK] where is Oxnel Hi Carole As us gloser lot would say it Oxnel = Oxenhall Infact thats exactly what I did I had never heard of such a place but:- "OXENHALL, a parish in the hundred of Botloe, county Gloucester, 2 miles N. of Newent, its post town, and 7 S. of Ledbury. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the Gloucester and Hereford canal, at the tunnel, which is 6,576 feet in length. The Ellbrook stream flows through the village, and falls into the Leadon at Highleadon Court. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture. The land is divided betwixt woodland, pasture, arable, and meadow. The soil is chiefly a rich sandy loam. Apples and pears are grown in great perfection. There are several mineral springs, the waters of which resemble those of Cheltenham." regards Robert Visit my web pages at http://www.hawkesburyhistory.co.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: "ANTHONY SHARP" <sharpafc@btinternet.com> To: <ENG-GLO-HAWKESBURY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 08, 2005 8:46 PM Subject: [HWK] Oxnel > Hi All, > Can anyone tell me where in Gloucestershire I can find a place called > Oxnel Court in 1877?
