    3. Hi Nikki I bet you were pleased to find him! If you've been looking at the Ancestry.com index I've found that WATTS is often indexed as WALTS! AS for the Oxbuary spelling - that must be another contestant in the "Weirdest spelling of Hawkesbury" contest that was running some while back. Have you found Thomas/George on the 1871 census? I wondered whether there were any more clues on that. He threw me at first cos his surname is mispelt! He's living in Monmouthshire as follows: Census 1861 Nantybanna, Llantrissent Monmouthshire ROBERTS William head 41 farmer Shire Newton Monmouth Mary wife 38 Bishton Monmouth Richard son 11 Llantrissent Monmouth Ann dau 9 Llantrissent Mary dau 7 Llantrissent Hannah dau 5 Llantrissent William son 3 Llantrissent Nicolas son 2 Llantrissent JENKINS Eliza visitor 34 Penhow WILLIAM William cousin 51 Pantague DAVIES Jane serv 19 Gwernesney PARRY James serv 22 Newchurch WATS Thomas serv 26 Oxbuary Gloucestershire It doesn't give any concrete evidence for Thomas being George (son of John and Jane WATTS). I'll probably never know for certain. At least I can concentrate on marriages between Thomas WATTS and ? to try and work out William Constant WATTS bc 1866 place of birth!
