I’d be grateful for some info on your family because I also have Walter TOGHILL on my tree. Did you spot his birth certificate in my folder? Shall I scan it to you? As I’m sure you know, Walter TOGHILL’s mother was a widow, originally Mary Ann CHAPPLE (or CHAPPELL), the daughter of George CHAPPELL & Jane TILLING. Mary Ann married Hugh WATTS TOGHILL in 1875 but he died the following year.leaving Mary Ann with 2 possibly 3 children. She went on to have at least 2 more children by an unknown father – hence the workhouse birth.
