Hi All, Call off the hunt! The mysterious Mary Ann CHAPPEL, witness at the marriage of Mary Ann CHAPPELL to Hugh WATTS TOGHILL in 1875 turns out to be Mary ANN KILMISTER, daughter of Moses and Ann KILMISTER. She married Francis CHAPPELL, son of Amos CHAPPELL & Grace (FRY) at St Mary's Hawkesbury on Nov 12th 1870. Both were from Little Badminton. I have compared her signature on both certificates and am convinced that it is the same handwriting. Another child of Amos and Grace was George CHAPPELL born 1831 Little Badminton who married Jane TILLING. It is their daughter Mary Ann CHAPPELL/CHAPPLE born 28/3/1854 Pucklechurch who married Hugh Watts TOGHILL, She would have been the Aunt by marriage of Mary Ann TOGHILL(CHAPPELL) Full credit for this deduction goes to Kay who weeded out 52 Mary Ann CHAPPELLs on the 1871 census to come up with just 2 in the right area.
