Bill THOMPSON wrote in his memoirs (!) My sister (Gladys Rosina THOMPSON) is getting married and everyone is running around in circles. We know her husband to be quite well, in fact we all belong to the same tennis club ( Anybody any ideas as to which). He (Wilfred George TANDY) has a small farm in Hawkesbury and delievers milk around the village. The honeymoon was in Burnham on Sea and Bill has to do the milk round for a week. he writes :- What a lark! In those days you carried the milk in a can with a pint and a half measure, the ladies came out with a jug. The had their pint or half pint and always wanted a drop extra as well. Later Bill writes how he used to collect coal from Badminton Station and deliver it round the village 3 afternoons a week. And for all those of you contemplating Burnham on Sea for a honeymoon. Bear in mind that Bill writes how Wilfred George caiught mumps on honeymoon leaving Bill to do the milk for an extra 2 weeks. Although the marriage took place on the 28th of February I do not yet know the year. Geoffro The Pond Dipper
