They actually appear to have had 7 sons, of Joseph , born about 1826 or 1830 was one. He and his wife Isabella had no children. As far as we can tell there were 2 distinct Shipway families, both of whom married Thompson girls. Yours married Wilmot Melhuish Thompson while 2 brothers of the Shipway/Creed line married Wilmot's cousins Elletta Lavinia and Rhodelinda Rowena. Ultimately they probably are all linked further back but we don't know how yet. From some charts sent to me from Anne Mays it appears that your John Shipway who married Eliza Aldrich was the son of Edward Shipway who married Elizabeth Taylor in King's Stanley, Rodborough 18/6/1789. Eliza Aldridge, born about 1799 was a daughter of Samuel Aldridge and Esther Mitchel. I am afraid I have no more information on that line, but stay tuned to the Hawkesbury list as Geoff Brightman et al are trying to put the known information together to see what they find. If you are trying to figure out where I fit in, I don't, but my husband , Geoff is the G.G.Grandson of Elletta Lavinia Thompson, Wilmot's cousin so I guess he and our kids are distant cousin's of yours.
