Dear Marilyn Coppard is my married name. My father-in-law's parents and g parents come from Sussex, Billingshurst area and, I'm sorry but I've never heard any connections with Cheltenham. This 'branch' has, however, been explored by a cousin-in-law and I will, of course, ask her whether she has come across any HULBERTs. Incidently, 2 generations back the name was COPPER but when the latest arrival was registered, the strong Sussex ooo aah accent confused the registrar who put a D at the end. As the registree couldn't read or write, he/she confirmed the spelling as correct. Amazing what you find, isn't it?
