Hi, I have been pursuing the problem of ANN CARTER and THOMAS HUNT for some years. My original research lead me to believe that I was a descendant of the JAMES CARTER and ELIZABETH THOMPSON marriage but in fact a comparatively recent discovery squashed that theory. I am descended from the CARTER/HUNT union but through their 3rd daughter MARY who had a bastard child by THOMAS SIMS of Stroud on 24.1.1807., THOMAS CARTER. MARY appears to have eventually married on 13.3.1815 a JOSEPH HALL. JOSEPH and MARY appear in the 1851 census living at Little Badminton. The death certificate of ANN CARTER dated 2?/2/1839 puts JOSEPH as present at the death and place of death as the Cherry Orchard ( which I know from the 1844 tithe map is in Little Badminton). ANN CARTER at death is recorded as being 85 making her birth around 1754 No luck however in tracing the parents. There is a baptism recorded in 1758 at Yate of an ANNE CARTER daughter of HANNAH CARTER , more research needed I think With regard to DANIEL CARTER I have never been 100% sure of who his parents were. I was advised by one of the subscribers to this list that he was the 1st son of JAMES and ELIZABETH CARTER, but could find nothing in any records to back this up. Janet
