Thanks Linda - it was worth asking - I have noticed the strong correlation between Coppard and Kent/ Sussex, and as there is no other evidence of Coppard's in GLS at the time, I have put it down to a man from there working as a servant / worker on the big estates in the area - both the Duke of Beaufort and Lord Liverpool had houses locally, and quite a few strays passed through in this way.
