Hi Carol Thomas COATES was the son of Elizabeth(Betty)COATES father of Thomas was Lazarus HIGGS of OLD SODBURY and was married to a Sarah SCULL. Thomas COATES married Hester LEWIS 19/5/1850 HAWKESBURY.Children were Henry 30/3/1851 William Giles 27/6/1852 Martha 15/1/1854 Mary Ann 28/8/1859. Betty COATES had two other illegitimate children by a William THOMPSON Mary Ann COATES 9/6/1806 who married Thomas ALLEN 10/11/1829 my greatgrandmothers parents. William COATES Sept 1811 who married Hannah CHAPPELL14/7/1839 all at HAWKESBURY. Betty COATES did not marry, she was the daughter of Giles COATES and Betty WINDOW. Hi Catherine As you may have gathered I am the great grand daughter of Henry and Martha (Hayward)Coates There daughter Annie Mary was married twice and her second husband Walter Wallis had one daughter Rosemary who was my mother. I can let you know her (Annie Mary) history once she was in Selby if that is any use to you.
