    2. Geoff Brightman
    3. Hi Pat, There is at least one PITT/THOMSPON marriage. I am also aware of PITT descendants in Aus or NZ. I will need to check files as it is a while since I lookd at this family. Sabina PITT springs to mind as being looked for. Anna NELMES - born 1708 in Coaley and died 8th February 1766 at Coaley was my 7th Great Grandmother. She married Thomas WHITTARD in March 1728 at Whitminster St Andrew. That is unfortunately all I know of her at this stage. I remember reading an old GFHS magazine which listed a NELMES as an officer of the GFHS. Perhaps Liz JACK the GFHS internet rep will be able to assist you with her details. Talk soon Geoffro The Pond Dipper

    1. [[Hawks]] THOMAS, PITT, WILLIAMS
    2. paadair
    3. I have at least three Hawkesbury families that I have done little or no research on. They are: THOMAS: Mary THOMAS who married Samuel FRANKCOM on 25 Dec. at Wotton-u-Edge lived at Hawkesbury all her married life. The censuses of 1851 and 1861 indicate that she was born c.1782 - 1784 at Tetbury -I have not found her baptism there. PITT: Betty PITT married Daniel FRANKCOM by banns on 5 April 1774 at Hawkesbury. Witnesses were James RODWAY and William POWER. The I.G.I. shows that on the same date they married at Todenham. There is also an I.G.I. entry saying John M.PITT, relative. Betty FRANKCOM died at Hawkesbury aged 65 on 16 April 1818 so it seems that she was born c. 1752/53. WILLIAMS: Hannah WILLIAMS was the 2nd wife of Daniel FRANKCOM (1708 - 1788). Daniel married 1. Rebecca ALWAY, 3.Sarah NELMES and 4. Ann CLARK. Hannah is my ancestor and died July 1752. She and Daniel married om 1746 at Old Sodbury. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any of these names in their families. Also researching CREWE, BRIDGES, NEALE, HANCOCK, HATHWAY and EMERSON of Horton, WORKMAN of Tresham, COMPEER. 3. 46 is the total of list members now. Brilliant. The last few have all come through the web pages. Welcome to this weekends new list members. Please post your interests as soon as possible. Include as much detail about yourself and your research as possible. New cousins have already been found this weekend and it is believed that John STINCHCOMBE may also have some missing links. Janet WILSON is about to get all excited when I mention that there is a new CARTER researcher. I now have a picture of me and Mrs Pond Dipper at home. I have lost count of the number of emails and phone calls requesting/demanding one since Linda Barraclough mentioned it (thanx Linda). I will post it to the web pages as soon as possible. 2. Geoff Brightman
    3. I took a picture yesterday of a Memorial which had listed on it the death dates and ages of 3 individuals. Unfortunately I did not write the information down and pic isnt that good so I cannot tell you the dates. The names are William PINCOTT, William Charles Elborough ISAAC and Rachel HULBERT. Can anybody help me on this one. Do you know of any connections ? Geoffro The Pond Dipper

    1. [[Hawks]] THOMPSONs in Bath
    2. Geoff Brightman
    3. There are a growing number of references and indications that the Hawkesbury THOMPSONs had connections with the city of Bath. Does anybody have any connections to THOMPSON in Bath ? Isaac THOMPSON when he emigrated to Aus in 1859 stated that he was from Bath. SLightly surprising as he was born and bred in Hawkesbury and was certainly there 8 years earlier at the census. Arthur (William) THOMPSON died at Bath in 1916 aged 47 although he was buried in Hawkesbury with his wife Melinda who died 1938 aged 68. It is known that the THOMPSONs were Bakers and grocers and that various family members moved from Hawkesbury to Somerset to establish businesses. Hawkesbury THOMPSONs can be found in Bristol, Clutton and Churchill amongst other places in Gliucestershire itself. Can anybody connect with these THOMPSON's Geoffro The Pond Dipper http://www.hawkesburyfamilyhistory.co.uk

    1. [[Hawks]] Mayshill - THOMSPON - a coincidence
    2. Geoff Brightman
    3. Yesterday morning before I was properly awake I read and deleted the original post on the Gloucester list regarding Mayshill and the replies from Ed TILY and cousin Marily MOFFAT. Then it was off to the village of Hawkesbury to update photographs of various graves and MI's with a couple of members of the Hawkesbury mailing list. One of the graves at St Mary's Hawkesbury is that of Hannah Maria THOMPSON died 9th June 1914 aged 68 beloved wife of Charles THOMPSON. This Charles and Hannah Maria THOMPSON are likely to be the couple listed on the 1881 census as living at Mayshill, Westerleigh. According to the census Charles is born Thornbury and Hannah Maria in Yate. The question for me and other Hawkesbury THOMPSON researchers is why is Hannah Maria buried at Hawkesbury alongside the Hawkesbury THOMPSONs ? Who were the parents of Hannah Maria and Charles. Do Charles or Hannah Maria belong to anybody on the list ? Geoffro The Pond Dipper http://www.HawkesburyFamilyHistory.co.uk

    3. Hello Brian, There was a lot of intermarrying going on in my families, but I believe I see a connection with yours. Would your Ann Rodway (1749-1835) be dau of Nicholas Rodway & Ann? I think I'm descended from a son of Nicholas Rodway and his first wife Mary Tuck, Charles Rodway (1730) who married Charity Cole. The only Deborah Rodway I have is a child of James Rodway and Mary Stinchcombe. It is her younger brother Nicholas who married twice (above) Did your Deborah marry her cousin? Does this sound familiar at all? 3. Hi Bernadette Thank you for your kind comments about the list. The Pond Dipper and obviously the THOMPSON clan and the COOPER cousins all have TUCK interests. Robert TUCK born about 1808 married Harriet COOPER THOMPSON. I have somewhere (In the sole surviving filing cabinet) paper records taking the TUCKs back further and I think also some non computer researchers.

    2. Marilyn Moffat
    3. Some of you will have seen the publicity for this - I decided to offer my time to do a 10 page index to repay all those people who have helped me - and luckily Rod allocated me pages which are of interest to this list. Hawkesbury doesn't have an entry it would seem but Sodbury (Chipping S~) Iron Acton and Wickwar feature - and in my indexing project. So as a thanks for all the help, and as a plug for Rod's CD (cheap at half the price :-)) here is the raw, hot off the presses version of the index. They will appear from Rod to CD buyers when I've done the last 3 pages ... (Phew - RSI is setting it - I'm a programmer, not a typist!!) If you want to know WHY they are in the Directory by the way, I think you might have to just get the CD (which is fascinating reading for hopeless cases like me!!)
